What prison in the United States provides the best mental health services to prisoners?
Q. Hi, I am doing a "proposal" that is aim at targeting the deficiencies that prisons across the United States suffered, especially the State of California. In this proposal, I have to provide details of the common problems that affect prisoners inside prison who suffer from mental health problems. This proposal will consider the economic crisis that limits the government of California from providing better mental health treatment inside prison. So, which of the 50 states provides better mental health treatment to prisoners, excluding the State of California? Mmm, perhaps cost or something like that. Thank You!

A. Not so much an answer but an observation, my dear pal was on death row in San Quentin and he often wrote about how so many guys became so mentally ill that they were no longer fit for execution. Sadly this proved to be true when he took his own life in June this year, says it all for me. Peace

How does the United States pay for things? What are the technical details?
Q. The United States doesn't have a 'bank account' so how does this work exactly. All checks from the United States government are from the Department of the Treasury, correct? And when that check is deposited in a bank, then how exactly does the bank increase that person's account without debiting the United States government account (of which there is none)? Basically I'd like to orient myself to the 21st century method of payments between the government and its people.

What city in the United States would you recommend friends to visit and?
Q. What city in the United States would you recommend friends to visit and what is one city in the United States you would not recommend friends to visit? The City I recommend is Chicago and the City I least recommend is Detroit.
Asked by Mr. Knowledgeable VI - Thu Feb 22 12:01:04 2007 - - 10 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Chicago, hands down. It might be because I've been born and raised in the burbs of Chicago, but it has everything: music, food, museums, a great nightlife, businesses, great colleges, festivals!!, and everything else you will ever need. My second place would be Washington DC, because it is amazing. A great nightlife, politicians around every corner, more happy hours than you can count, museums that are free, great public transportation, good food, etc. Again, I might be biased because I lived there for awhile. Yeah Detroit is not the best place ever, but a lot of the town outside of there are great. If you want a good Michigan city, try Grand Rapids, it's now the largest city in MI and it is pretty rockin for a small city.

I chose that the United states is ascending due to technology, education, and healthcare. Can you tell me anymore ways the united states is ascending? lol i can't call him. we were going over it in class. for decline the class came up with trade, global warming, war, economice collapse, biological war, and oil collapse. those are like how we can decline. For ascendancy we came up with technology, personal freedom, awarness or finding solutions to problems that may cause decline, education, advances in medical fileds, i just need more example i think?

A. I wouldn't say that. United state is declining. United states ranked low in education. United states has one of the higher high school drop out rate. Students do poor in Math and in English. Most of the high paid jobs are held by foreign students. Computer companies have more foreign people employed than Americans. Technology wise, Japan and Europe, and even China and India are ahead of us.

A. It means we embarking on a new era of understanding and working together in stead if insisting on our way or the highway. Instead of calling everybody with whom we disagree a terrorist and drawing a line in the sand we work with diplomacy on fairness. Instead of world scorn with President Obama we will one again respect of the world we held until the war criminal GWB spit on our Constitution and thumbed his nose common decency so he and Cheney line their pockets at the expense of the hard working Americans. McCain would have been the same.

How does United States respond to developing threats in other countries?
Q. In what ways do they react? How do we know when countries will attack? We cannot base it upon theory, but we can't attack them without evidence. What does United States do?
Asked by Emily F - Wed May 13 00:24:45 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Generally speaking, the best solution is to try to turn a potential foe into a friend via direct or indirect diplomatic means. But, because people can be liars or change their minds, we also need to develop military options while we attempt to establish diplomatic solutions. The military option must be the last option but it must be an option.

Should the United States start using the metric system like the rest of the world?
Q. Why or why not? The United States is the only country on the planet that still uses the outdated imperial system. It becomes hard for things to be transferred and having to switch measurements ends up confusing. Should the United States ever switch to the metric system in the future?
Asked by Nick - Mon Apr 5 23:23:28 2010 - - 15 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Probably. It's easier for one thing. A gram is a gram is a gram. A liter is a liter is a liter. In my field we use metrics all the time and to this day I don't know the difference between a liquid and solid ounce. Or how many cups per ounce. That's the other thing. Metrics are all base 10, so going from a centimeter to a meter or millimeter just requires multiplying or dividing by a factor of 10. Basically just moving a decimal point. I guess the only issue is going from solids to liquids you'd still have to convert based on density. I guess because of my field, it would just be easier for me and that's why I'd like it! *Clark: I develop plastics. We use metrics and so do our customers (dow, sweetheart, rubbermaid, etc).

A. The U.S. lost the jobs to other countries because the other countries could make the product cheaper. How would be compete against another country to which we've already lost the competition. The labor costs are so much cheaper in many other countries that we simply can't compete. This is the reason the jobs went overseas in the first place.

A. No he can't if you plan to take a flight. Each U.S. citizen needs a valid passport for an international flight. Should you however plan to drive and cross the land border or take a cruise he can use his birth certificate to travel being below 16 years. .. In this case he also must have a notarized letter of consent signed by both of his parents. ..

A. First of all, the US economy is not going to collapse. It's not even clear we're in a recession. The great depression was exacerbated by a fledgling fed that did exactly the opposite of what they should have done. That is, they took liquidity out of the system rather than adding it. Regarding your question, a collapse of the largest economy in the world (we are four, some think five times larger than China in GDP) would send the entire world into a depression. Since we would presumably default on our treasury bonds, of which China and Japan hold the most in the world, countries who hold our bonds as foreign reserves would experience a crisis of liquidity. Also, their export markets would dry up overnight and there would be a run on their… [cont.]

A. The US saw China as a potential extension of Communist Russia, and thus a Communist China would be a factor in the Cold War. Also, the prevailing American concept of restricting Communism was military 'containment' - that is, surrounding Russia with states that would be hostile to the spread of Communism. A Communist China would interfere with this containment policy.

A. The Constitution did not expand upon the ideas as much as it expanded the power of the central government. The Const. Convention was not that, it was called for the purposes of revising the best form of gov't. we ever had, The Articles of Confederation. When it became clear that it was evolving into a ConCon, delgates Lansing and Yates returned to New York. The idea behind the Revolution was for a republican form of gov't.
