Do you know that the United States of America is a Constitutional Republic and what that means?
Q. A Constitutional Republic is a state where the officials are elected as representatives of the people, and must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government's power over citizens. A Constitutional Republic is the current form of government in the United States. However in recent years, many people have criticized the federal government for moving away from a Constitutional Republic, as defined by the Constitution, and towards a pure democracy.[1] TeamLaw.org defines a Constitutional Republic as follows: A Republic, by definition, has two principle elements, First, it is controlled by Law, therefore it does not control Law. Second, it recognizes the private independent sovereign nature of each person (man… [cont.]

A. I knew it was a republic, but wasn't quite sure about the details which you clearly illustrated. Thanks for the info. It seems many people today believe we are a pure democracy where often the majority wins at the cost of the minority. Many don't know much of our law was based in part on the Biblical principles probably because that just is not taught in schools anymore ( a subtle form of indoctrination by purposely omitting specific facts of history. This however, is beginning to turn around. Parents are demanding more and more books that tell the WHOLE history of the USA and not just what the "progressives" want us to know).

A. No...not in the path you seek...The only argument is 5th and 14th amendment equal protection clause violations. You must argue that a segment of the population does not have a fundamental right (marriage is a fundamental right- declared by the Supreme court when states tried to ban interracial marriages.) Here homosexuals are denied a fundamental right...this should be rectified.

The 1st Amendment to the US Constitution is the part of the US Bill of Rights respects all religions PL Coment?
Q. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the United States Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion" or that prohibit the free exercise of religion, infringe the freedom of speech, infringe the freedom of the press, limit the right to peaceably assemble, or limit the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Asked by koushiksaha - Tue Jul 21 13:18:36 2009 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It has nothing to do with "respect." The 1st amendment affords no "respect" to any religion or lack thereof, it simply guarantees that the government will neither establish or support any particular religion, nor prohibit any religion from existing. "Respecting" in this case means "with regard to" -- it does not mean "paying honor to" or "considering worthy." It says the government will make no law with regard to an establishment of religion. Peace.

A. No, they should not be prohibited. Seriously? Saying a PRAYER? Who does that disturb? It's not like they're inflicting any harm on anyone! They're just saying a short little prayer for their food. What is happening to our country? The people who founded america were Christians, and now look. Kids aren't even allowed to quote scripture in papers, or even say a little short prayer. It used to be that in school children would say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer every day. I know that teaching religion is going too far, but kids should be allowed to do what they want when it comes to praying for their food. I do that! What's happened? We might as well go back to segregation and all that. It's going AGAINST one of the amendments! [cont.]

As Voltaire said, I may disagree vehemently with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. Anyone who respects the First Amendment should be willing to reciprocate. A. Yes. I actually don't understand what all the fuss is about anyhow. If two men want to make living as a couple together legal I think "Let them" The only place there has been a problem with it is with pension and spousal benefit plans because some people want to be discriminatory over payouts even though the gays have to pay just as much into the plans whether they are married or not. The religion noise is just noise. I am not gay, but I still think what these Christians are doing to hurt the gays is simply evil.

How is a fighter jet related to the national debt of the United States?
Q. Congress recently passed legislation raising the debt ceiling of the United States above twelve trillion dollars. But how much is twelve trillion dollars? A dollar bill is 6.14 inches long. Just a smidge over half a foot. 12 trillion of them are 6.14 trillion feet long. That is 1,162,878,788 miles. A fighter jet flying at Mach I covers 761 miles per hour. Trailing dollar bills at the speed of sound, it would take 174.44 years to drop 12 trillion dollars. 174 years. Who thinks this is OK?

A. Shopahol is wrong. China does not have a law that you have to put girls up for adoption. China has a law that you can have only one child without paying a big fine. The persons who put their girls up for adoption do so voluntarily, because they want to have a boy, and are not allowed to have two children. The U.S. has no limitation on the number of children you can have. In fact, it gives you more in tax exemptions, earned income credit, welfare benefits, etc., if you have more children.

A. Title 26 of the U.S. Code is the codification of all federal tax laws. Section 6011 specifies the requirement of a return. The word "Confession" leads me to the conclusion that they think that a return is a violation of the fifth amendment right against self-incrimination. Tax protesters try and use the Constitution, but they haven't even read it. Here is the portion of the fifth amendment that relates to self-incrimination. "...nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself..." Notice it says CRIMINAL. Filing income tax returns and the requirements to do so are CIVIL actions. Here is what the court says about the fifth amendment argument. In United States v. MacLeod, 436 F.2d 947, 951 (8th Cir. 1971), [cont.]

Presidency and Democracy in the United States?
Q. There is always a lot of debate over how much power the President should have. Look at Bush for example, he doesn't represent the United States in a favorable way to us. He goes against ever anti-war bill from Congress threatening to veto them all. The President hires a Cabnient of his people to help him. Why is the President so important? Why do we have to be represented by one individual? Why can't Congress talk out all the issues so to allow for a more worthy solution? Why does all the pressure and decision and image rest on the shoulders of a guy like Bush? At least why can't we have a 3 or 5 man Presidency. 3 or 5 people can get more done than 1. And than anytime someone does something undesireable they can get impeched by like 75% [cont.]

Also read the Federalist Papers to see the arguments for a unitary executive and why the office serves as a check on the branches of government.

And the people in much of the world, if not their governments, respected the United States for its values. The Bush administration has dishonored that history and squandered that respect.
